囲碁大会の会場である海王中学にやってきたヒカルのセリフ。

It's supposed to be one of the best schools in the country. I never thought I would even set foot in a place like this.
全国有数の進学校なんてこんな機会でもなきゃ一生来ることないよなァ

suppose といえば、"be supposed to do" で「～することになっている」「～すべきだ」「～するはずだ」が入試英語の定番で、ネクステ、英語の構文150に載っているのもこの形。
シス単曰く、この形で使われることが約45%で最も多い。

do がbe になったところで大して変わらないだろうと、It's supposed to be one of the best schools in the country. を上記の訳にそのまま当てはめてみたけど、

それは国内で最高の学校の一つのはずだ。

……なんか分かるような分からないような？？？

辞書を引くと"be supposed to be C" で載っていて、意味は「～だと思われている」。

それは国内で最高の学校の一つだと考えられている。

とでも訳せばいいのか？

suppose には大きく分けて
1 ＜人が＞～だと思う、考える
2 ＜人・理論などが＞～であると想像する、推測［仮定］する
の二つの意味があって、違いは文脈で判断するしかないらしい。今回だと1の意味？

やっぱり意味を理解せずにイディオム丸暗記じゃダメだな(;^ω^)
ちなみにbe supposed to do は You are supposed to do の形になると「～してください」「～しなければならない」といった命令文と同じ意味で、GAME3で取り上げるつもりだった表現。
